FOREIGN BUYERS DOUBLE IN NUMBER AT OROAREZZO 2023
In his opening greeting, Italian Exhibition Group CEO Corrado Peraboni underlined: «Here at Oroarezzo, jewelry takes shape, as the show’s new claim suggests. This has led to investments aimed at a new and better organized arrangement of the exhibition areas. A job that has evidently paid off considering that the number of buyers from abroad has doubled compared to last year. As always happens with good results, they are the fruit of a collective effort. Arezzo’s export numbers are encouraging and make it imperative not to lose the value of this profession that we all feel the duty to pass on to the new generations of goldsmiths and jewelers from Arezzo and Valenza, Vicenza and Campania region. In short, to a fundamental trait of Made in Italy».
SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION
«It is with great enthusiasm that Arezzo Fiere e Congressi welcomes this magnificent edition of Oroarezzo, an event that has always been the pride and joy of this organization,» said Ferrer Vannetti, President of Arezzo Fiere e Congressi. «We have worked hard in recent months to adapt the facilities and services that the expo center offers to the best of our ability, certain of providing operators and goldsmiths from Arezzo and elsewhere, as well as buyers and guests at the show, with the best possible conditions so that the results of this event are as positive as possible. Obviously, this adjustment in the quality, quantity and usability of the spaces that the Expo can now offer will further strengthen the already excellent and profitable operational dialogue that links Arezzo Fiere to IEG, the organizational structure with which we will continue to fully collaborate so that Arezzo’s jewelry events, starting with this very popular 2023 edition, can enjoy ever-greater success.»
SHOWCASE FOR MADE IN ITALY AND A MOMENT TO DISCUSS KEY ISSUES
«Oroarezzo is back for its 42nd edition and is demonstrating the vitality of a sector that identifies our reality,» Alessandro Ghinelli, Mayor of Arezzo, affirmed, «despite the critical international situation that continues to call for caution and attention. Not only is it a showcase of the finest made-in-Italy gold and jewelry, it is also an opportunity to discuss important issues such as innovation, sustainability and training with the involvement of young people who, at least here in Arezzo, are showing a growing interest in the professional skills related to goldsmithing, thanks also to the commitment of institutes and high schools that provide preparatory education in this sector. These themes are now essential for any manufacturing sector that cares about its future and development. The city of Arezzo is ready to host an “off show” that will give the many guests a chance to enjoy our city, including a special museum in the historical center dedicated to the ORODAUTORE collection, where jewelry becomes pure art.»
A STRATEGIC SECTOR FOR THE ENTIRE COUNTRY
«Oroarezzo is the event that promotes Italian and international jewelry manufacturing,» said Alessandro Polcrì, President of the Province of Arezzo. «Arezzo’s gold District is a driving segment of the provincial economy which boasts a solid tradition, a living fabric that has been able to keep up with the times. It is a strategic area, not only for the economy of the Province of Arezzo, but for the whole of Italy, and one which is undergoing a powerful growth trend. A heartfelt applause to the key players of this 42nd edition for once again making Arezzo and its Province an important reference point. The Province of Arezzo supports our jewelry companies through collaboration with the worlds of education and work in order to train specialized figures to make the sector more and more avant-garde.»
A PRESTIGIOUS EVENT FOR THE INDUSTRY
«On the international exhibition scene, Oroarezzo is one of the most prestigious and important events in the gold and jewelry sector,» declared Massimo Guasconi, President of the Arezzo-Siena Chamber of Commerce. «A success built on the contribution of numerous parties: local institutions, the Chamber of Commerce itself, IEG, but above all the hundreds of companies, from Arezzo and elsewhere, that, over the past 42 years have chosen this event to present their excellent products, the fruit of a heritage of tradition, technical skill, style and design. All elements that characterize Made-in-Italy jewelry.»
THE JEWELRY SECTOR, FIGURES THAT INSTILL CONFIDENCE
«The latest figures released by our industry’s leading Research Centers speak of a double-digit increase in turnover (+20.8%) on a national level for the year 2022 compared to 2021,» explained Giordana Giordini, President of Arezzo’s Goldsmith Council and Confindustria Orafi, representing the jewelry industry’s trade associations. «Employment is also showing a not indifferent positive balance (+5.4%) compared to the previous year. Looking at exports, and focusing on our district, the province of Arezzo is at the top of the ranking with 3.2 billion euro of exports in the year 2022, an increase of 19.1% over the previous year. All data that instill confidence, even in the awareness of the huge commitment and important investments that we continue to make every day, both individually within our companies and collectively with our trade Associations and the Arezzo Goldsmith Council. High product quality, innovative technologies, study into new markets, certifications, sustainability, new promotion and communication channels, investments in training young people with schools, we are trying to embrace everything – and we do so very willingly – to ensure that Arezzo continues to be a global reference point for the production of fine Italian gold and jewelry.»
ITA SUPPORTS THE SHOW WITH AN INCOMING OF 100 BUYERS
«Today, ITA has brought delegations of a hundred or so top buyers from 16 countries around the world to Arezzo,» said the Director General of the Italian Trade Agency, Roberto Luongo, «and I am pleased to confirm ITA’s support for the internationalization of this first-rate event for the supply chain, as well as our collaboration with IEG, Federorafi and all the relevant associations. As ITA, we want to ensure new, existing, upcoming or more distant Italian companies within the sector of our constant assistance in their approach to foreign markets by seizing opportunities and emerging potential. The year 2022 closed with important export values for Italian gold and jewelry, much higher even than pre-pandemic figures. A largely positive performance, which is due to the companies’ ability to innovate their technologies, processes, products and design, while still preserving the tradition of quality and creative spirit.»
TRADE SHOWS ARE ESSENTIAL FOR DISCUSSING WORK AND TRAINING
«Every chance to meet, whether at trade shows or conventions, are very welcome and extremely useful, not only because we can talk about work through discussion and dialogue, but above all, because they are a wonderful showcase for introducing young people to the sectors in question, from craftsmanship to industry, from agriculture to the environment,» said the Hon. Tiziana Nisini, Vice President of the 11th Parliamentary Commission for Public and Private Work. «The path is the right one, and I would like to mention, for example, the law on Made in Italy, which is receiving a lot of attention. A collaborative effort between government and Parliament, the law will contain specific measures for the promotion of our quality products through trade shows and events abroad, incentives for those who promote activities related to ancient professions, and an improvement in training activities by upgrading the Technical High School Academy with Made in Italy. Training must be the crucial element for a better alignment between school and manufacturing. In a country that is less complicated and less tied to bureaucracy, the beneficiaries will be businesses and the weaker segments of the population.»
THE JEWELRY INDUSTRY IS A DRIVING FORCE FOR THE TUSCAN ECONOMY
«The number of buyers is growing, the number of exhibitors is growing, and the focus on sustainability is growing,» says Eugenio Giani, President of the Tuscany Region. «This 42nd edition clearly demonstrates that Oroarezzo is consolidating its position as a solid reference point for the gold and jewelry industry on a national and international level. Made in Italy, starting with the Arezzo district, has been experiencing an encouraging positive trend in recent months, especially in terms of exports, which is an important driver for the Tuscan economy. Oroarezzo will be able to give a concrete sign of this buzzing activity.»
THE ETERNITY OF JEWELRY AT OROAREZZO
In the words of Beppe Angiolini, Oroarezzo Ambassador and Art Director: «Light, the theme of Première 23. How better to express light than with a piece of jewelry. We are looking to the future, to innovative materials, to suggestions from design and fashion. This year Oroarezzo reclaims its circularity, continuity and, without overdoing it, we could even say the «eternity» of jewelry.»
